Long time readers will know the long and winding road I have taken to get a OLPC.
Well it has arrived finally:
A quick 30 second review: It is a lot smaller than I thought. The laptop runs Linux and has specifically built UI (called Sugar). I dropped out of that into a shell and also downloaded Opera (instead of the custom browser they give you). Although a little slow it’s perfectly fine and I absolutely adore it. The use case for me is when I am holidaying and don’t want to take my laptop for fear of someone stealing it or alternatively for fear of me getting shit inside it (the OLPC is pretty durable). And all I need in that endeavor is a laptop with a web browser and wireless access.
